Nice article Robert. I love Japanese anime, but never know what to look for. Ghost in the Shell I and Appleseed blew me away, Spirited Away wowed me, but I’ve seen a lot of crap too. So thanks for reviewing Anime. I’ll get this one now because it sounds like something I might like.

Yeah, the actual story was overwhelmed by the emotions of the characters within it: Adolescent angst Harry, insecure hateful Umbridge, etc. The tone of the film was like feeling a storm brewing. So I suppose credit must go to the cast and crew for that. it wouldn’t be easy making a film that’s all build up.

Bravo Robert! Well put. Neil Gaiman is my favorite author. So I really hoped they wouldn’t butcher it when translating it to celluloid. Okay, a fan is often the worst critic, but I loved the film! You hit the nail on the head: the cast and their performances were exceptional. The sincerity of their performances rivalled the romance of the story. I hope the same director does more Gaiman stories. American Gods would be awesome.

A great review Robert. I loved the film for the very reasons you mentioned. About time we had a Bond even remotely believable. Although Timothy Dalton did try to bring out the military side of Bond’s character. This Bond was a combination of arrogance and impetuousity, cold-blooded killer and frightened rookie. It was done to perfection: Bond made mistakes, bad mistakes. The bad guy got away, the money disappeared. Or maybe that’s our intro to the next movie.

Hmmm… I think Wes Anderson is like bullet points: the essential truth of the information is conveyed far more efectively than if the text is fleshed out.

The reality of family, the majesty and uniqueness, is in the quirks. By rendering only the quirks, Wes Anderson creates a very real portrait of families that are both dysfunctional and ultimately loving.

5 stars from me!

This wasn’t written by Jebediah Tool. Probably that’s why it’s a good story. Soccer would be a great game if the acting was kept out. I know, I know, the milking penalties and histrionics are part of the game. But it just seems like poor sportsmanship to me.

Love the story. It brings attention to a blot on an otherwise interesting game.

I wonder if a cop red carded the driver at fault?
